Goles por la paz
The mission of this NGO is to support and facilitate at-risk youth and children to initiate change towards a culture of peace in their communities, using the power and appeal of sport as well as activities such as music, arts, enterprise, language and nutrition. Furthermore, they promote children’s rights and improve educational achievement and access to employment.
About the NGO
"Goles por la paz" acts in neighbourhoods which suffer from some of the highest levels of unemployment, poor nutrition and school dropout.
A team of social workers, psychologists and physical trainers works with children and teenagers between 5-16 years of age. This mixed team, which is regularly supported by volunteers delivers a sports and educational programme to around 200 at-risk youth. The NGO is based in the north of Bucaramanga, Colombia. The foundation has access to two football pitches, two communal halls and a community kitchen. They have also permanent office space and a video and internet room.
You as a volunteer
The projects cover a wide range of activities based around Sports, Education, Enterprise and Life Skills, Learning Languages, Healthy Eating, Family and Community.
We are flexible in terms of which projects you chose to engage in. For us it is important that you are doing things that you enjoy!
We also encourage volunteers to be creative. If you have a particular skill or interest that you want to introduce, just let us know and we can support you in developing a workshop or activity.
