In 2026, Bucara Voluntours proudly celebrates its second anniversary. Over the past two years, we have welcomed volunteers from more than 50 countries to Bucaramanga, Colombia. What started as a small passion project has grown into a global community committed to meaningful travel.
From the very beginning, our volunteer program in Colombia has aimed to offer an authentic travel experience—one that allows travelers to give back to the local community and leave a positive, lasting impact.
In 2026, we are taking the next step by placing an even greater focus on long-term social impact. To support our partner foundations sustainably, we have developed new initiatives and strengthened existing programs.
English Classes in Bucaramanga’s Prison
Our visits to the Modelo Prison in Bucaramanga now follow a new and more impactful structure. Previously centered around guided visits and introductions to the work of the Nuevos Horizontes Foundation, these visits are now held weekly and include a two-hour English class.
This allows our volunteers to actively participate, teach, and make a direct difference in the lives of the participants.
English Education for Children
Education remains at the heart of our mission. Together with Goles por la Paz and the CAPAZ Foundation, we have established weekly English classes for children.
Our volunteers prepare and lead the lessons, always supported by local English teachers, ensuring both quality education and cultural exchange.
Sports Programs for Children
In underprivileged neighborhoods, sports play a crucial role in channeling energy positively and building confidence. Alongside our ongoing collaboration with Goles por la Paz (football), we are proud to partner with Estructurar from 2026 onwards, offering basketball training for children.
Hands-On Support for Dogs and Cats at Our Animal Farm
Animal welfare is another key focus area. Visits to the Amor de 4 Patas Foundation have become more hands-on, with volunteers actively helping with feeding, washing, and caring for the animals, as well as maintenance projects and creating toys for dogs and cats.
Looking Ahead
We are excited for an active third year with Bucara Voluntours, welcoming new volunteers and continuing to support social and community projects across Colombia. Together, we are proving that travel can be meaningful, responsible, and truly impactful.
