Bucara Voluntours becomes Voluntours Colombia: A new chapter begins

When Laura and I founded Bucara Voluntours, we had a simple vision: to create meaningful travel experiences that connect people with local communities while showcasing a side of Colombia that many travelers never get to see. What started as a small project in Bucaramanga quickly grew into something much bigger than we ever imagined.

Over the past two years, we have welcomed more than 200 volunteers, Spanish students, and travelers from over 50 countries. Together, we have supported local foundations, taught English, organized sports activities, worked with rescued dogs and cats, and built friendships that continue long after our participants return home.

As our community grew, so did our dream. Today, we are excited to announce that Bucara Voluntours is becoming Voluntours Colombia.

Why the Change?

While Bucaramanga will always remain at the heart of our story, our mission has expanded beyond a single city.

Over the last year, we have built partnerships with inspiring community projects across Colombia. From the Caribbean coast of Cartagena to the Amazon rainforest, from whale-watching in Nuquí to wildlife conservation projects, we realized that our vision was no longer limited to Bucaramanga.

We wanted to create a platform that allows travelers to experience the incredible diversity of Colombia while continuing to support local communities.

Voluntours Colombia reflects that vision.

What Stays the Same?

Although our name is changing, our values remain exactly the same.

We still believe that travel should be more than sightseeing.

We still believe in meaningful cultural exchange, responsible tourism, and supporting local initiatives that create lasting impact.

Most importantly, we remain working on our projects in Bucaramanga, as the city will remain the heart of Voluntours Colombia.

What's New?

Through Voluntours Colombia, travelers can now explore a variety of destinations and programs throughout the country:

We also organize transportation between destinations, making it easier than ever to experience multiple regions of Colombia in a single trip.
