Our Mission – Volunteering in Colombia with Bucara Voluntours

Bucara Voluntours is a social impact organisation offering volunteering programmes in Colombia, with a strong focus on Bucaramanga. Our mission is to support local foundations by connecting them with international volunteers and creating sustainable, long-term impact for the communities we work with.

Many foundations in Colombia face two major challenges: a lack of consistent staff to carry out daily activities and limited financial resources to keep their projects running. Bucara Voluntours was founded to help solve both.

Through our volunteer programmes in Bucaramanga, we provide local foundations with reliable, hands-on support while also generating financial contributions through each volunteer placement. Every volunteer who joins Bucara Voluntours contributes directly to the sustainability of our partner organisations — making volunteering a powerful tool for real change.

 

Education & English Teaching Volunteering

A central pillar of our work is education, especially English teaching volunteering. Together with the CAPAZ Foundation (working with children) and Nuevos Horizontes (a social reintegration programme within a prison), we have established regular English classes. These ongoing classes ensure continuity, learning progress and meaningful educational impact.

Our international volunteers actively support lessons, assist local teachers and help create a positive learning environment based on trust, motivation and cultural exchange.

 

Sports & Community Development

In addition to education, Bucara Voluntours promotes sports-based community development. Volunteers are involved in football and basketball programmes with organisations such as Goles por la Paz (football/soccer) and Estructurar (basketball). Through sport, we encourage teamwork, discipline, self-confidence and social inclusion among children and young people.

 

Animal Welfare Volunteering in Colombia

Bucara Voluntours also offers animal welfare volunteering in Colombia. In Bucaramanga, we support Amor de 4 Patas, a rescue ranch that provides shelter and care for more than 150 street dogs and 50 cats. Volunteers assist with daily feeding, maintenance of the facilities and spend quality time caring for the animals — improving their wellbeing and quality of life.
